Intellectual Property Rights

 

Introduction

These Provisions aim to define and regulate intellectual property rights related to the content and activities provided through the e-learning environment. They seek to protect the rights of authors and creators, promote a safe and positive educational environment based on respect for intellectual property rights, support the achievement of educational objectives, and encourage creativity and innovation.

Scope of Application

These Provisions apply to all educational content, activities, and intellectual works that are produced, published, or used through the platform. They cover all beneficiaries, including users, authors, developers, and partners.

Concerned Parties

All contracts and agreements concluded by the platform, or by its authorized representatives, are subject to these Provisions and shall be governed accordingly. Such contracts include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Content authoring contracts.
  • Contracts for hosting educational activities developed by external entities.
  • Contracts for translating external content.
  • Any other contracts that may be concluded in the future in relation to educational content and activities.

General Provisions

  • The regulations and policies related to intellectual property rights, privacy, codes of conduct, and information security applicable at the University and in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia shall be applied in activating the electronic environment.
  • Participants involved in developing electronic training program content shall comply with intellectual property laws, and this article shall be considered a disclaimer of the University’s liability for any legal consequences arising from any violation of intellectual property rights.
  • All users are required to adhere to the approved rules of academic integrity and ethical standards.
  • The University officially owns the rights to the electronic training program content provided through the platform; however, in the case of commercial use of such content, the rights shall be determined according to the agreement between the University and the developer.
  • All training materials content on the platform is protected under copyright laws and intellectual property regulations.
  • Trainees are not permitted to print, copy, distribute, transfer, modify, adapt, or reproduce any training materials content for any reason without prior written approval from the authority responsible for the training.
  • Praise, endorsement, promotion, justification, or support of any deviant ideology or its symbols is prohibited.
  • All educational content and activities made available by the platform to learners – including meetings, extracurricular activities, live lectures, and various interaction tools – are materials protected by intellectual property rights and are subject to the provisions of these rules. Ownership of such materials belongs to the platform or the respective rights holders, without prejudice to users’ rights and privacy.
  • In the event of observations or errors related to the content, the competent scientific committee shall take the necessary actions and communicate with the author or the owner of the academic activity in accordance with the approved mechanism and the provisions of these rules.
  • Posting links to other websites that violate Sharia law or applicable regulations, or that are intended to harm national security, is prohibited.
  • The platform prohibits the publication of any content or comments that incite sectarianism, racism, tribalism, regionalism, or any form of abuse, unlawful discrimination, or incitement that violates the laws and regulations in force in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The information and content available on the platform are reviewed and updated periodically. However, the platform provides no express or implied warranties regarding the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of the information for all purposes, within the scope of these Provisions. The platform shall not be liable for any direct or indirect damages arising from the use of the available content.

The platform and its affiliated entities reserve the right to add, modify, or remove any content or data at any time, as deemed appropriate, within the scope of these Provisions, without prior notice.
